Scarlet Reverie: A Bold & Moody Styled Shoot at The Narrows Landing
Set against the elegant backdrop of The Narrows Landing in Hamilton, Waikato, this styled shoot was a celebration of opulence, romance, and fearless colour.
When we did the floral design for this shoot, we leaned into deep crimson, cherry, and blush hues to create an atmosphere that felt both luxurious and intimate — a perfect blend for the modern, artful couple.
Using a premium selection of blooms — including ruffled garden roses, like Tess and Darcey roses, bold anthuriums, anemones, and playful sweet peas — we composed textured, abundant designs that were rich in depth and movement. Bright red gerberas added a punch of vibrancy, while trailing amaranthus and textural berries softened the edges with romantic flair.
Bridal Bouquet
The bridal bouquet featured a wild, asymmetrical silhouette, combining deep red tones with soft touches of blush and nude. It was moody, modern, and unapologetically bold — the kind of bouquet that makes a statement without saying a word.
Ceremony
For the ceremony space, we chose sleek black metal plinths as a modern alternative to traditional arches. Their open, minimal structure created a floating effect, allowing the florals to dance effortlessly in the air. To add texture and a dreamy, cloud-like quality, we layered in clusters of dried hydrangeas alongside the fresh blooms. The mix of fresh and dried elements brought depth and softness to the design, resulting in an installation that felt both sculptural and romantic — a perfect statement piece for a bold, modern celebration.
Reception
We used different shades of pink and red roses to build texture and depth — layering deeper tones with softer blushes to create something rich and romantic. Then I added anemones and sweet peas to bring in a bit of movement and bounce. Styled with taper candles and red pears & cherries for a bit of whimsy.
This shoot was a love letter to colour, confidence, and creativity. For couples who aren’t afraid to go beyond tradition and embrace rich palettes with a contemporary edge, this scarlet-inspired floral story shows just how powerful intentional design can be.
If you’re dreaming of dramatic, artful florals for your wedding — whether bold like this or soft and romantic — we’d love to bring your vision to life.
